The Museum of Mankind in Burlington Gardens, London was for many years the repository of the British Museum’s extensive collection of ‘ethnographical’ objects – including works from the great civilisations of Africa, the Americas and Asia. These objects have now been moved to the main British Museum building. The Haunch of Venison gallery took over the Burlington Gardens site in 2009. Chariots of the Gods incorporates images of some of the treasures displayed at the The Museum of Mankind, where Locke would often draw.
